Tell Students: Alternative Break Information Sessions for Spring and Summer Experiences - November 15, December 1

The Volunteer and Service-Learning Center's Alternative Break program will host two information sessions for students who are interested in learning more about this year's spring and summer break experiences:

  • Tuesday, November 15, 12:15–1:30 p.m., Cleveland Hall 306
  • Thursday, December 1, 12:15–1:30 p.m., Bacon Hall 204

Students who are interested but are unable to make the information session are encouraged to stop by Cleveland Hall 306 during drop-in hours to speak with student leaders from the program. The deadline to apply for spring and summer experiences is Friday, February 3, 2017.

Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP) 2017 Open Enrollment Ends Today

The Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP) is available for 2017 to eligible CSEA, PEF, UUP, and M/C employees. This program allows eligible employees to exchange previously accrued annual leave (vacation) for a credit toward the cost of their New York State Health Insurance on a biweekly basis. Sick leave credit cannot be exchanged under this program.

The enrollment period for the 2017 plan year ends today. To participate, eligible employees must submit an election form to the Employee Benefits Office, Cleveland Hall 410, by close of business today, December 2. Participants currently enrolled in PEP must submit a new election form to participate in the 2017 program.

The PEP description, including eligibility requirements and enrollment forms, is available in Cleveland Hall 410 or on the Human Resource Management website.

Tell Students: Discover Career Opportunities in Health and Wellness - November 14

What can students do with a degree in health and wellness? Find out at the Health and Wellness Career Fair on Monday, November 14, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Butler Library. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to meet and network with about a dozen professionals currently working in the field of health and wellness (4:30–5:30 p.m.), listen to keynote speakers highlighting current trends in public health (5:30–6:30 p.m.), and attend a panel discussion about ways to achieve career goals in health and wellness (6:30–8:00 p.m). This event is hosted by the Western New York Higher Education Health and Wellness Consortium and Buffalo State College and sponsored by the Grant Allocation Committee and Academic and Student Affairs. The dress code is business casual, and students are encouraged to bring their résumés. Toward a Sustainable Buffalo: Public Lecture Series - November 7, December 5

The Graduate School at Buffalo State, in collaboration with Open Buffalo and the Institute for Community Health Promotions, will host a two-part public lecture series, "Taking Action on Economic, Environmental, and Climate Sustainability," on Monday, November 7, and Monday, December 5. The series will feature distinguished community experts who will provide information about sustainability issues in our area. The series is designed to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussing how to make progress in addressing these issues.

Both sessions will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Butler Library 210 and are open to the public. Online registration is not required but is strongly encouraged; refreshments will be provided.
