Tell Students: 2018 New York State Business Plan Competition - Information Session November 14

All Buffalo State students are invited attend an information meeting about the 2018 New York State Business Plan Competition on Tuesday, November 14, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Bulger Communication East. All students—both undergraduate and graduate—are invited to participate in the New York State–sponsored contest, which awards a top prize of $50,000 and additional prizes starting at $10,000. Students do not need to be in a business program to compete. The Small Business Development Center will assist all students in the preparation of their business plans and presentations. Please advise interested students to attend the information meeting. Please contact me, Susan McCartney, with questions.

Today: Conversations in and out of the Disciplines - 'Translation of Innovations'

The fall 2017 Conversations in and out of the Disciplines series concludes today, November 3, when Mark Warford, chair and associate professor of modern and classical languages, presents "Translation of Innovations" at 3:00 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 320. A Q&A and short wine-and-cheese reception will follow the talk. Everyone is welcome.

Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming talks this spring, which will include presentations by Steve Peraza, assistant professor of history and social studies education, and Daniel DiLandro, archivist and special collections librarian in Butler Library.

Call for Applications: 2017-2018 Equity and Campus Diversity Minigrant Proposals

The spring semester deadline for Equity and Campus Diversity Minigrant proposals for 2017–2018 is Friday, February 16. Consistent with the college’s mission, minigrants provide financial assistance for projects, workshops, and activities that have institutional impact—strengthening Buffalo State’s inclusive excellence toward diversity as described by our mission statement, core values, and strategic plan. 

Applications must be submitted at least six weeks in advance of proposed events.

'Deranged Durang' Opens Tonight

The Buffalo State Theater Department and Casting Hall Productions proudly present Deranged Durang, a series of seven one-act plays directed by Shaun McLaughlin, lecturer of theater, in the Donald Savage Building's Flexible Theatre.

The one-acts by Christopher Durang showcase the playwright's immense talent in comedic writing from stage to sketch comedy. Performed by an ensemble cast, Deranged Durang borrows from classic television sketch comedy and presents an evening of satire, whimsy, and unbridled silliness.

Tickets are available online, by phone at 878-3005, or in person at the Rockwell Hall Box Office.

Performances November 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 at 8:00 p.m.; and November 4 and 11 at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m.
