Information Security Awareness: Back Up Your Files

Posted:

Do you regularly back up your files? In more than one place? Would you suffer if your computer hard drive failed and none of your files could be recovered? Would you suffer if specific files could not be recovered? Have a plan. Back up your files in multiple locations. Don’t forget to refer to the Buffalo State Guidelines for Storing and Transmitting College Data (PDF, 382 KB), which is informed by the Buffalo State Data Risk Classification Policy (PDF, 145 KB).

Catch-Up Adjustments to UUP Discretionary Awards

Posted:

UUP employees who received lump-sum discretionary awards on December 26, 2018, will see a small additional payment in their paychecks dated January 23, 2019. These additional amounts were calculated after our 2018 campus discretionary pool was adjusted to reflect the 2016 and 2017 retroactive salary increases.

Employees may view the adjustment amount by accessing the “View Paycheck” feature in the NYS Payroll Online self-service portal. Instructions (PDF, 91 KB) can be found on the Human Resource Management website.

Once you are in NYS Payroll Online, click on the option to “View Paycheck” and select the check dated January 23, 2019. (Typically, employees can view their biweekly paycheck information by the Monday before each payday.) The adjusted lump-sum discretionary payment can be found in the Current Earnings section, with the description “SUNY UUP Discretionary LSP.”

If you need assistance in accessing your January 23 paycheck details, please call the Payroll Office at 878-4124.

If you are not already doing so, we encourage you to consider opting out of receiving paper direct deposit advices each payday as well as receiving printed W-2 forms annually. All information can be found online using the “View Paycheck” or “View W2” features.

Using NYS Payroll Online eliminates secure documents from being lost, stolen, delayed, or misplaced; reduces paper usage and printing and postage expenses; and is great for the environment. NYS Payroll Online also allows you to update your payroll information electronically.
