Take Back the Night 2020: April 8

Posted:

This year’s annual Take Back the Night will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Plaza (rain location: Social Hall). Take Back the Night is an international event and nonprofit organization with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms. We are looking for volunteers, performers, or survivors who would like to share their stories for this significant event. If you are interested in participating or know a student who would be interested, please e-mail pierinng@buffalostate.edu or fill out the Take Back the Night volunteer/attendance form. Take Back the Night is open to everyone, and we invite you to wear teal in support of sexual violence prevention.

Hundreds of events are held in over 30 countries annually. Events include marches, rallies, and vigils intended as a protest and direct action against sexual violence and relationship and domestic violence. Buffalo State has been hosting a Take Back the Night event for more than a decade.

Student Accessibility Services Note-Taking Program Fall 2019 Peer Volunteers

Posted:

Student Accessibility Services thanks the students who served as peer notetakers during the fall 2018 semester. Peer notetakers are volunteers who have met standards of quality and excellence to assist us with ensuring equal access to education for students who receive the note-taking accommodation.

Peer notetaker duties extend beyond simply making copies of their notes. Notetakers make sure that their notes are tailored to suit the needs of the student(s) they support. This is not an easy task, for some of our students have very specific needs. Taking notes can involve rephrasing content, typing notes in a specific font, enlarging notes to a specific size, or meeting with the student receiving the notes to ensure that all notes are up to quality and accessibility standards.

The following students have displayed a high degree of integrity, responsibility, and care in making sure that the students they were supporting had the opportunity to succeed. Please join us in thanking them for helping us keep Buffalo State College a civil and caring academic community.

Grading Reminder: Last Date of Attendance

Posted:

When issuing a student a non-passing grade (E, F, U, I, or N), please also report the student's last date of attendance when entering the grade online. This assists the Financial Aid Office in determining whether a student unofficially withdrew and whether the student is able to retain the aid he or she received.

The last date of attendance is the last date the student participated in class, took an exam, handed in homework, or actively engaged in an online course. If assigning an I or N grade, the last date of attendance is the last date you met with the student to discuss progress in the course. If you have no record of a student's attending, do not enter a date. Instead, use the grade EV, which indicates that the student never attended the course.

Questions regarding this policy or procedure should be referred to the Financial Aid Office, 878-4902. The grading guide (PDF, 162 KB) may also assist you.
