Information Security Awareness: Stimulus Distribution Scams

Posted:

The U.S. government will begin to distribute stimulus funds to many individuals and families beginning in late April. Please remember that agencies of the government will not call or e-mail you about this. If you receive a call or an e-mail about the stimulus funds, it is likely a scam. More information is available from the Identity Theft Resource Center. Be aware. Be safe. Be well.

Today: PODLive - 'You Are Not Alone: Supporting Each Other through the Coronavirus Crisis'

Posted:

The Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education is offering a free online session, "You Are Not Alone: Supporting Each Other through the Coronavirus Crisis," today, April 8, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

This special session will help educational developers connect, support, and share. Given the extensive effort we have all undertaken to assist faculty and institutions, let’s take some time to talk to each other about how we are doing and share our collective wisdom. We’ll start with a few words from POD leadership. Participants will then break into a special topic group of their choosing:

  • Diversity and inclusion in the digital context
  • Distance learning technology resources and troubleshooting
  • Leadership from a distance
  • Programming disruption, adaptation, and planning for the future
  • Self-care

The session will finish by bringing the group back together for general discussion.

Connection during this time is especially important. We hope you will join us.

Register here to receive your Zoom link.

Ways to Help during the Coronavirus Outbreak: Volunteer with the United Nations

Posted:

The Civic and Community Engagement Office is providing information about ways faculty, staff, and students can be active citizens and support our community during the coronavirus outbreak.

The United Nations is seeking virtual volunteers to help with its global causes. Volunteers are needed to assist the UN in creating visual or text communication material summarizing key points of the UN’s emerging understanding of COVID-19. These materials can include PowerPoint presentations, interactive websites and blogs, and infographics, depending on the skill sets of the volunteers. The materials will be shared with country offices in the United Nations Development Program and other entities requesting support. The UN will focus on providing information to governments on the health impact of the virus. For example, the UN wants to summarize the latest data on SARS-CoV-2's interactions with preexisting illness and risk factors, such as cardiovascular diseases and smoking, and how to mount effective responses and build health system resilience. Please visit the UN volunteers website to get started.

EPIO is sponsoring a family of eight with a newborn in ICU by providing a gift card and a care package with items for children, cleaning, and hygiene. EPIO staff members have identified additional families in their educational programs who are in critical need of assistance. If you or your office is interested in sponsoring another local family, please e-mail EPIO for more information.
