The Professional Development Center is pleased to offer a five-part course series that will provide participants with strategies and frameworks to help them strike a balance between being productive in a remote or uncertain work environment and still spending quality time with their families, friends, and activities they are passionate about.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the day-to-day routines of how we work, care for our families, relax at home, and spend time with our friends. What is challenging about these changes is that our daily routines, which used to be separated by psychological, social, and physical boundaries, no longer have clear divides. A loss of boundaries and routines in our lives can lead to employee burnout and affect our mental health. But as individuals, we have the power to create the routines, boundaries, and personal connections to maintain a fulfilling personal and work life in a temporary uncertain remote or in-person environment.
The hour-long class discussions listed below will serve as an opportunity to connect with colleagues on each topic, share strategies for overcoming similar challenges, and identify on- and off-campus support systems to enhance personal well-being. Everyone participating in the course will be asked to review a short video located in the Professional Development Center Blackboard Organization. (Enrollment instructions for Blackboard are below.) We highly encourage anyone who is interested in these topics to register for all five course discussions, as we believe discussing these challenges with colleagues will help enhance your learning and provide a support system for changes you want to implement.
You do not need to attend all five discussions to view the course videos. You can view them as a self-paced module by following the Blackboard organization self-enrollment instructions. At Step 4, search for the organization “Professional Development Center.” Click on the “Professional Development Center” under “My Organizations” and select the respective module.
Please register for each discussion you are interested in attending. Discussions will be held on the following Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
