West Side Youth Development Coalition at Buffalo State: Neighborhood Organizing 101 Event Planned

The West Side Youth Development Coalition at Buffalo State, in collaboration with the Grant-Amherst Business Association and the Buffalo Police Department D-District, will hold an informational seminar about forming and retaining interest in neighborhood organizations on Tuesday, September 3, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Polish Cadets Hall (corner of Amherst and Grant streets).

The program, which is free and open to the public, will have several experts available to provide information on such topics as

  • how to organize or reenergize your neighborhood group;
  • the importance of crime-prevention education;
  • the relationship between stable neighborhoods, quality of life, homeownership, and successful block and community groups.

Residents, Buffalo State students, landlords, tenants, businesses, and block club members are all encouraged to attend. The program is also sponsored by Black Rock-Riverside Neighborhood Housing Services, the Buffalo and Erie County Board of Block Clubs, and the Crime Prevention Association of WNY. Refreshments will be served.

For more information, contact Michele Graves, senior staff assistant in the Career Development Center, ext. 6137.
