Advocacy is active support of an idea, cause or person. In order to advocate effectively for sexual assault survivors it is necessary to understand the cultural context. We design most sexual violence intervention and prevention strategies to accommodate difference. Truly relevant strategies require us to embrace it. All communities have specific norms, strengths and challenges. Lydia Guy-Ortiz, an independent consultant with an emphasis on sexual violence prevention and anti-oppression theory, will be the featured speaker at this webinar will explore concepts related to health disparities, cultural competence, cultural relevance and anti-oppression.
