Ways to Help during the Coronavirus Outbreak: Teach English

The Civic and Community Engagement Office is providing information about ways faculty, staff, and students can be active citizens and support our community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Are you interested in helping local new American families and survivors of domestic violence and trafficking to practice English over video calls? The International Institute of Buffalo needs volunteers who are willing to have one-hour lessons twice a week with its clients. Fifteen minutes of the lesson will be spent interacting with children and parents together, teaching them how to use their surroundings and everyday activities to practice English. Forty-five minutes of the lesson will be working on English skills with parents. This will all take place over a video call, so volunteers must have access to a phone or computer with a camera. The International Institute of Buffalo will conduct two virtual trainings (over Zoom) with education providers.

If interested, please complete and submit this form.
