Posted: Thursday, June 16, 2016Appointment: Registrar
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Nigel Marriner, Ph.D., as Buffalo State Colleges new registrar. Marriner comes to Buffalo State with 21 years of experience working in higher education. Most recently, he served as associate registrar at the University at Buffalo for five years. Marriner has had experience with the academy, the SUNY system, and collective bargaining units, and he is a proven leader of administrative staff. He has a clear understanding of the needs of institutions to make best use of developing technologies, and he understands how technology relates to the changing expectations of the Registrars Office.
During his visits to campus, Marriner demonstrated his understanding of the complex issues that face higher education, his ability to identify solutions to problems, and his knowledge of ways to streamline processes that benefit both students and the institution.
Marriner holds a bachelor of arts in history and drama from the University of Guelph; a master of science in college student personnel services from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; and a doctor of philosophy in higher education administration from the University at Buffalo.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Marriner, who will assume his duties Monday, June 20.
I want to thank Heather Maldonado and Deborah Silverman, search committee chairs, as well as the entire committee for their good work in recommending this appointment.
