Campus Contract with Zoom Ends December 25

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the campus signed a temporary contract with Zoom, under which licenses were procured and distributed for faculty members to use in teaching. A limited number of staff members also had licenses provided upon request.

Buffalo State College’s contract with Zoom will end on December 25, 2021. This contract will not be renewed.

The campus has implemented standard, supported web conferencing platforms to ensure that faculty and students will have

  • secure, private access to class meetings and ad hoc meetings with other students and faculty;
  • ADA compliance;
  • controlled access to conversations, meetings, activities;
  • an alternative to on-campus class sessions in case of pandemic or other campuswide emergency.

Campus-Approved Web Collaboration Tools
Currently, Buffalo State has two web conferencing platforms licensed and authorized for instructional use: Blackboard Collaborate, which works in part with the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS), and Microsoft Teams, which is part of the campus Microsoft contract.

Additional information is available in the related Policy on Campus-Supported Web Conferencing Software Platforms (PDF, 87 KB). Questions may be directed to vpfm@buffalostate.edu.
