Posted: Thursday, March 24, 2022Tonight: Reception for 'Artists/Educators' Exhibition
The Art and Design Department Exhibition Committee is pleased to announce that a special exhibition, Artists/Educators, is on view in the Czurles-Nelson Gallery in Upton Hall through Wednesday, April 6. A reception to celebrate the artists will take place today, March 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Upton Hall lobby. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
Buffalo State College has been dedicated to preparing teachers for 150 years. The art education program at Buffalo State is one of the oldest in the country; the first courses in art education were offered in 1871.
We are pleased to be able to exhibit the work of artists who take on the enormous task of educating our youth while still creating artwork of their own to share. These artist-educators are some of our invaluable community partners. They provide essential real-world learning opportunities to our preservice art teachers—allowing them into their schools and classrooms, acting as mentors, and working with us to ensure that the torch of visual arts continues to be passed on to new generations. This exhibition allows our college community to enjoy their artwork, but it is also meant as a gesture of gratitude for all the great work they do with their own visual art students and our Buffalo State art education students.
