Please come out in support of human rights and promote women’s health and wellness during SlutWalk today, September 18, from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Plaza. SlutWalk is a transnational movement of protest marches calling for an end to rape culture, including victim blaming and slut shaming of sexual assault victims. This is an adult-only event.

The first SlutWalk took place in 2010 at the University of Toronto in response to a police officer telling women to change how they dress to stop sexual assault from happening. This event is designed to promote gender equality and combat victim blaming, body shaming, and sexual violence through reclaiming the derogatory term. This event is about unity, shedding degrading stereotypes, and shifting rape culture. It's about having fun while educating people and coming together as a community.

Participants can join in a walk from Grant Street to Elmwood Avenue (across the Buffalo State campus). Other activities include educational tables (Planned Parenthood, Crisis Services, Evergreen Health, and others), vendors, food trucks, snacks, music, games, body painting, henna, and guest speakers.
