The Dr. Katherine S. Conway-Turner Civic and Community Engagement Office is co-hosting a new civic engagement reading group for interested faculty, staff, students, and community partners. This group is a collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). 

This partnership will provide an opportunity to discuss relevant community engagement topics in an intimate setting while networking with colleagues from another university with many similarities to our own. Together, we will discuss short civic engagement readings that are relevant to both communities.  

Our first meeting will take place Friday, December 1, from noon to 1:00 p.m. (EST). To register and receive the Zoom link and copies of the readings, please complete the online form no later than Monday, November 27, at 3:00 p.m.

The readings for our first meeting will be a recent piece called “The Insular World of Academic Research” from the Chronicle of Higher Education, and the introduction and chapter 1 of Anti-Racist Community Engagement: Principles and Practices.

We expect subsequent meetings to take place on Fridays from noon to 1:00 (EST). Please contact Alice Villaseńor, CCE associate director, for more information.
