Spotlight on Community-Engaged Faculty and Community Partners: Habitat for Humanity Buffalo

Throughout the academic year, the Civic and Community Engagement Office will highlight the efforts of our community-engaged and service-learning faculty members and community partners. We are grateful to all our faculty members who are engaged in this important work.

This semester, Habitat for Humanity Buffalo has partnered with SPC 307: Group Communication, taught by Ann Liao, associate professor of communication. This amazing organization is working toward positive change in the community by addressing affordable housing needs. Buffalo State College students in this course will develop a survey that will evaluate Habitat home-buyer experiences. Students will work in small groups and apply their knowledge and skills to this community issue and need.

Did you know October 5 is World Habitat Day? Habitat for Humanity joins partners from around the world to promote the United Nations' annual day recognizing the importance of shelter. Habitat for Humanity believes adequate shelter is a basic human right.

There are many ways to give support. You can volunteer your time and talents by building homes, providing administrative support, serving on support committees, or becoming a family liaison. You can also donate in-kind or shop at a Habitat ReStore. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated. You can follow Habitat for Humanity Buffalo on social media and share information on Facebook and Twitter.

Please consider giving your support to Habitat for Humanity during World Habitat Day. We greatly appreciate your kindness and support. For more information about Habitat for Humanity Buffalo, please visit the organization's website.
