A Silent Conversation: Color Approaches in Watercolor - October 1

The Burchfield Penney Art Center will host the workshop "A Silent Conversation: Color Approaches in Watercolor" with instructor Evette Slaughter, on Saturday, October 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Color is one of the most important elements in a painting. It is a primary vehicle for conveying thoughts, emotions, and personality. Participants in this workshop will explore watercolor painting techniques with an emphasis on the personal and expressive color to enhance individualism in the work.

Artist Evette Slaughter has made her home in Western New York for the last 25 years. Trained in New York City, she brings an urban sensibility to many of her works. Her artwork has been exhibited at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and in private and corporate settings in New York, Boston, and Toronto.

This workshop is part of the International Center for Watercolor Artist Inspiration Series. The cost of the workshop is $30 for members and Buffalo State faculty, staff, and students; $40 for not-yet members. For more information, including a supply list, please visit the Burchfield Penney website or contact Kathy Gaye Shiroki, curator of museum learning and community engagement, 878-3549.
