Response to February 20 Buffalo News Article

From the Senate Agenda Committee
We, the members of the Buffalo State University Senate Agenda Committee (chair, vice chair, chairs of Senate Standing Committees), wish to inform the campus and wider community that the views expressed in the February 20, 2023, Buffalo News article regarding the Buffalo State Presidential Search are those of the private individuals named therein, and do not represent the views of the Buffalo State Senate, the officially recognized and duly elected campuswide governance unit representing students, faculty, and staff.

The tone and content of the article misleadingly suggest widespread consensus surrounding potential candidates for this position. The views on this matter discussed in the article represent the opinions of individual colleagues. Unfortunately, the authors of the article did not reach out to any of the easily identified leaders of our governance units to seek corroboration for any of the opinions expressed.

We endorse the SUNY search process and look forward to meeting with candidates who have been so vetted.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Kline, Chair, Buffalo State Senate
Andrew Nicholls, Vice Chair, Buffalo State Senate
Matthew Baran, Vice Chair, Student Welfare Committee
Kelly Boos, Chair, Faculty and Staff Welfare Committee
Julian Cole, Chair, Bylaws and Elections Committee
John Draeger, University Faculty Senator
Ken Fujiuchi, Chair, Standards for Students Committee
M. Scott Goodman, Chair, Budget and Staff Allocations Committee
Jason Grinnell, Chair, Academic Plan Committee
Dianne McCarthy, Chair, Curriculum Committee
Dominique Parke, Chair, Student Welfare Committee
Allarae Prigan, Student Representative, Agenda Committee
Raquel Schmidt, Vice Chair, Student Welfare Committee
Gregory Wadsworth, Chair, Instruction and Research Committee
