In light of the retirement of Patricia Alessandra, commencement director for academics, please note the following reassignment of duties related to Commencement operations. These changes are effective immediately:
Commencement Operations
Kimberly Jackson will provide leadership and project management for the Academic Affairs Office in planning and executing Commencement ceremonies and related functions under the purview of the office in her new role as deputy director of commencement operations. Her responsibilities also include serving as a liaison to other offices relative to Commencement as she initiates, plans, and executes Commencement functions relative to academics.
Multidisciplinary Studies
Dr. Jackson will continue to manage all aspects of the multidisciplinary program as director of multidisciplinary studies, providing strategic leadership and direction for students with unique interests and goals. Her duties include student advisement and counseling, student recruitment, faculty and departmental relations and communication, and assessment. Each of these responsibilities entails determining appropriate policies and procedures, cooperation with allied offices and departments, student recruitment, and advocacy. Dr. Jackson will serve as the university’s academic representative for multidisciplinary studies and is an advocate for the program, both locally and nationally.
Dr. Jackson has served 17 years in the Graduate Studies Office (formerly the Graduate School), during which she held several positions. Her office is located in Academic Affairs, Cleveland Hall 519.
Probation and Dismissal Process for Graduate Students
Academic Standards, under the leadership of Leasa Rochester-Mills, director of academic standards, will oversee the probation and dismissal process for graduate students in collaboration with Kevin Miller, director of the Graduate Studies Office.
