Task Force to Address Policy on Revised General Education Program

A task force to address policy questions pertaining to the implementation of Buffalo State’s revised general education program (IF14) has been established. This group consists of the interim assistant dean of intellectual foundations and first-year programs (convener), the associate deans, the assistant dean of University College and director of academic standards, the registrar (or designee), the director of admissions (or designee), the director of financial aid (or designee), and the associate vice president for computing and technology services (or designee). This task force will

  • review factors (e.g., fulfilling SUNY learning outcomes, time to graduation, financial aid issues) most directly affecting current students opting into revised general education requirement;
  • develop a process (e.g., eligibility, form, responsible office, appeal procedure) for students to opt in to IF14;
  • establish a timeline, including deadline, for students to opt in to revised general education;
  • create advising guide to assist academic advisers in guiding their students in determining the appropriateness of opting in to IF14;
  • identify, communicate, and address other policy and procedural barriers potentially affecting the fall 2014 start date.

If you have particular questions or concerns related to the implementation of IF14, please send them to the interim assistant dean of intellectual and first-year programs at hodgeaa@buffalostate.edu.
