James Mayrose, dean of the School of the Professions, and Wendy Paterson, dean of the School of Education, are pleased to announce the merger of the career and technical education program and the technology education program. Todays cutting-edge, rigorous career and technical education (CTE) programs prepare students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers, a mission shared with technology education. Technology education is an integral program of study within the New York State mathematics, science, and technology learning standards and is often found under the umbrella of CTE programs. Technology education students learn to use concepts of science and mathematics in a hands-on, systems-based approach to problem solving. These concepts guide students in the understanding, design, and development of systems, devices, and products to serve human needs and wants. Merging these programs at Buffalo State will enable our faculty to provide more relevant career information to their respective students.
