I am pleased to announce that the Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) Office will become the Dr. Katherine S. Conway-Turner Civic and Community Engagement Office. This renaming will honor President Conway-Turner in a way that will not only preserve the legacy of her accomplishments on campus and throughout the Western New York community but also strengthen the short- and long-term sustainability of the influential programs under this office:
- Academic Community-Engaged Learning – Connecting experiential learning and community partnerships
- Civic Engagement and Social Justice – Including her signature Dare to Care Day
- The Community Academic Center – Providing family learning supports to new Americans
- The West Side Promise Neighborhood – Giving backbone support to a community-driven collaborative
- Anchor Institution Initiative – Serving as a key national leader through our urban-engaged mission
The name change is pending formal approval of the Building and Grounds Committee and a resolution from the Buffalo State Council early in the 2023–2024 academic year.
