Project Clean Plate Round 2

Project Clean Plate is a program that helps reduce food waste in Bengal Hall (the resident dining hall located in the Campbell Student Union) and creates awareness among students. During Buffalo State Dining's first Project Clean Plate Party in September, food waste was monitored at the disposal area of Bengal Hall for two hours. An astounding 150 pounds of food waste was recorded. Based on this two-hour period, we are wasting 1,050 pounds of food in one week, 4,200 pounds in one month, and 50,400 pounds in one year. We could have fed an additional 73,309 people in one year.

Join Buffalo State Dining for Round 2 of Project Clean Plate as we determine if our efforts to prevent waste have led to a decline in waste since Round 1 of Clean Plate. Waste monitoring will run today from noon to 2:00 p.m. in Bengal Hall. Stop by for more information and to help fight hunger and reduce waste. Charitable donations will be made based on participation.
