Professional Development: Public Speaking/Oral Communication Workshop

This workshop is intended for faculty members who will be teaching IF Oral Communication courses or a public speaking or oral communication component in their departmental courses. A basic overview of the fundamentals of public speaking and oral communication will be presented. Topics will include how to deliver and organize speeches, overcoming speech anxiety or nervousness, different types of speeches and group presentations, and how to grade and evaluate oral presentations. Sample video of student speeches and panel presentations will be viewed and discussed throughout the workshop. The workshop will be held on Friday, May 18, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in E. H. Butler Library 181B as part of the Pedagogical Institute.
