I am pleased to provide you with the following updates on changes that will be implemented at the senior administrative levels.
Chief Information Officer
Don Erwin has accepted the position of Chief Information Officer effective January 1, 2011. In this role Don will report directly to me and serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
Senior Adviser to the President for Equity and Campus Diversity
Senior Adviser for Equity and Campus Diversity, Dolores Battle, will retire from her position at the end of December. We thank her for her years of able and visionary leadership and her commitment to making this campus more welcoming and respectful of difference. She leaves us a priceless legacy for which we are grateful.
I have asked Scott Johnson to serve as the interim senior adviser to the president for equity and campus diversity while we consider organizational and administrative options for this critical position. Scott will take on these additional responsibilities while he continues to provide leadership for University College. In this role, Scott will also serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
Our strong commitment to and respect for diversity and individual differences will remain the guiding principles as we evaluate the current and future structure of this unit.
