Dear Colleagues,
This year Buffalo State will welcome its first-year students with a new orientation format, which will begin with First-Year Convocation on Wednesday, August 26. Unlike previous years, when First-Year Convocation closed the orientation experience, it will now be the opening event—giving our newest students and their families their first impression of Buffalo State College.
First-Year Convocation will be organized similarly to a commencement ceremony, with our 1,500 new students seated on the floor of the Sports Arena, with their parents and guests seated in the bleachers. Convocation begins at 9:00 a.m.
To succeed, this new format for First-Year Convocation will require the enthusiastic participation of our campus community. I encourage all faculty to process in regalia to demonstrate our commitment to our incoming students. And I encourage all departments and offices to allow their staffs to support this event as a work assignment for that morning.
Let’s show the newest members of our community the very best of Buffalo State. Please call ext. 5906 or e-mail univcollege@buffalostate.edu to volunteer.

Interim President
