From the President
Posted: Friday, March 18, 20112011-2012 Budget Reduction Decision
I met with the members of my cabinet and the College Planning Council Budget Committee on Tuesday, March 15, to discuss any additional comments or suggestions received from the university community regarding the preliminary budget reduction decision announced Thursday, March 10.
Again, the feedback was thoughtful and important; however, most of what was received focused on programmatic, divisional, departmental, or unit organizational issues. After careful review, the decision was made to incorporate the previously announced reductions into the proposed state operating budget for 2011-2012.
With this decision confirmed, we are ready to move into the fourth and final phase of our process, which will involve submitting departmental allocations to accounts for the 2011-2012 academic year to SUNY by July 1, 2011. It will be during this phase that divisions, departments, and units will make decisions on how to best utilize the resources available to ensure that our students have quality academic and co-curricular experiences at Buffalo State in the coming year. We are continuing the practice of not making new appointments with the potential to lead to permanent or tenured status to the payroll, but relying on temporary actions to address critical needs.
Thank you all, again, for your invaluable input and participation in this process and for your strong and continuing commitment to the mission of this fine institution.
