From the Chair of the Buffalo State Senate
Please join us for an open forum with Nancy Kleniewski, the SUNY chancellor’s liaison to Buffalo State, for a presentation of preliminary recommendations on Tuesday, April 11, at 12:15 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. There will be time allotted for a question-and-answer period.

Dr. Kleniewski was appointed as liaison by the SUNY chancellor in December 2022 and tasked with the following:

• Determine the status of relationships between campus and faculty Senate leadership by reviewing pertinent documentation and conferring with a cross-spectrum of stakeholders.
• Improve the effectiveness of shared governance by engaging with the appropriate leadership in open, ongoing dialogue for the betterment of the campus community.
• Foster a cooperative and inclusive working and learning environment on campus.
• Mediate any differences of opinion to create a balanced resolution, where possible.
• Assist in the communication, finalization, and effectuation of the 2023–2024 Buffalo State appropriated budget.
• Ensure that an ongoing budget process and enrollment plan are implemented that reflect Buffalo State’s culture, mission, and needs while being aware of the fiscal limitations.

About Dr. Kleniewski
Nancy Kleniewski is a sociologist, educator, and college administrator. She is the author or editor of five books and numerous articles on urban issues and public policy. A specialist in urban sociology, she earned her bachelor’s degree at Emmanuel College, Boston, and her master’s and Ph.D. at Temple University. She taught at SUNY Geneseo from 1981 to 1996, where she also served as department chair, associate dean of the college, and executive assistant to the president. From 1996 to 2002, she was dean of fine arts, humanities, and social sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and from 2002 to 2008 she was provost at Bridgewater State University. In 2008 she became the seventh president of SUNY Oneonta, serving until her retirement in 2018. While president, she was actively involved in the Millennium Leadership Institute, an initiative of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities to help diversify the ranks of college administrators.
