Nominations for the Award for Student Leadership in Equity and Campus Diversity

The President's Council on Equity and Campus Diversity is seeking nominations for the 2008 Phillip Santa Maria Award for Student Leadership in Equity and Campus Diversity. The award is given annually to an undergraduate and/or a graduate student who has shown significant leadership in promoting respect for diversity and individual differences in their out-of-classroom activities, student activities, and/or community service. Leadership may be shown by organizing discussions and/or programs in the residence halls, leadership in planning special programs or projects sponsored by student organizations, or leadership in other activities that promote equality, access, and social justice in relation to gender, race/ethnicity, cultural and linguistic differences, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, or veteran status. Nominations are due no later than Friday, March 21. Recipients of the award will be recognized at a special program on Thursday, May 1.
