Watercolor 101 Workshop at the Burchfield Penney

Watercolor 101 workshop with Joe Whalen and Jeff Watkins. Part of the International Center for Watercolor. Saturday, February 16, 12:30–4:00 p.m.

Painting with watercolors is a refreshing artistic medium. A sampling of techniques will be demonstrated, and applications of the watercolor medium will be introduced. Participants will see artist demonstrations, get their hands wet, and have conversations about the process.

This is a watercolor workshop for beginners; supplies are included.

Joseph Whalen has been a watercolor painter for nearly 65 years. His paintings have won numerous awards, and he’s been the focus of nearly a dozen one-man shows in the region. Whalen's paintings are in public and private collections in Paris, London, Los Angeles, New York, and elsewhere.

Jeff Watkins is a distinguished watercolor artist whose work has been published in Splash 3 by Rachel Wolf, The Simple Secret to Better Painting by Greg Albert, and Watercolors in a Weekend by Hazel Harrison. He currently lives in Lockport, where he paints primarily from the local landscape. During the past 40 years, Watkins has taught public and private watercolor lessons, exhibited his work in many galleries, and developed a unique style.

Cost: $45 for "not yet" members; $35 for Burchfield Penney members. Join online or call ext. 3547 for membership information.
