Empty Bowls III a Rousing Success

This year, Empty Bowls III: Artists Helping to Feed Western New York raised more than $5,000 to feed the hungry in Western New York. For the third year, the Art Education Department, the Design Department, the Arts and Humanities Dean's Office, and the Center for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education have collaborated with area art teachers, businesses, and community partners to help the Food Bank of Western New York and Friends of Night People feed the hungry in our community. Students from more than 40 public, private, and charter schools and area artists donated more than 900 bowls. Musicians, restaurants, and other businesses donated food, time, and money; faculty, staff, and students from Buffalo State College donated time and energy; and art teachers and their students donated more than 900 bowls. Critical to this year’s success was the addition of the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors as a corporate sponsor.
