Posted: Thursday, March 9, 2006Project FLIGHT, Governor, and State Agencies Kick Off MLK Literacy Initiative
This year marks the second year in which Project FLIGHT at Buffalo State College leads this important program designed to reach out to the young minds of Buffalo through books. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literacy Initiative is a program under the auspices of the governor that collects age-appropriate new books for children in grades K–12. To date, more than 12,000 books have been donated to needy children. This year's recipient, selected by Superintendent Williams, is Highgate Heights Elementary School 80.
