Campus Compact Webinar - 'Four Curricular Lenses for Centering Community Engagement, Equity, Justice, and Movement Building' - October 7

Please join the Civic and Community Engagement Office for the webinar "Four Curricular Lenses for Centering Community Engagement, Equity, Justice, and Movement Building," featuring Kevin Kumashiro from Kevin Kumashiro Consulting, on Thursday, October 7, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. This event is presented by Campus Compact as part of its National Webinar Series and is free to members of the Buffalo State College community.

This webinar explores four “lenses” or conceptual frameworks for centering community engagement, equity, justice, and movement building in curriculum: (1) naming the moment and our intervention; (2) paradoxes of education; (3) legacies and frames; (4) discomfort and resistance.

Drawing on a range of fields of research; on personal experiences as scholar, dean, and now consultant for colleges and universities across the country; and particularly on lessons from social movements, Dr. Kumashiro speaks to both novices and veterans in anti-oppressive education by both affirming progressive interventions and troubling conventional wisdom. By the end of the session, participants will be able to define and illustrate four conceptual frameworks for centering community engagement, equity, justice, and movement building in curriculum.

Please register online for this webinar and any others in the National Webinar Series that may interest you, and get the best of Campus Compact from wherever you are. Across 13 webinars, find tools, resources, and ideas to support and inspire you in your work.
