Black History Month Lecture Series Continues: Post-Apartheid South Africa

The African and African American Studies Interdisciplinary Unit (Aimable Twagilimana, Ph.D., coordinator) presents "Post-Apartheid South Africa" on Wednesday, March 7, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 109. Screening of the movie Tsotsi (preceded by a brief introduction); 7:25–9:30 p.m.: presentations by Marcus Watson, Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in anthropology, Cornell University, who will talk about “Social Dynamics in Rural South Africa” (Watson spent more than two years doing fieldwork in South Africa for his doctoral dissertation); Deborah Martin, M.A., Buffalo State alumna and winner of the Graduate School’s Outstanding Master's Thesis Award, 2006, for her thesis on South African writer Nadine Gordimer; and Dr. Barish Ali, assistant professor, English Department.
