Poet Lucille Clifton to Read at Campbell Student Union

Lucille Clifton will read from her work and sign books at the Campbell Student Union Social Hall on Wednesday, October 29, at 4:00 p.m. Clifton was the first African American woman to win the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize. She has also been honored with the National Book Award in poetry for Blessing the Boats and is the only author ever to have two collections named finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in one year. Born in Depew, NY, her writing resonates with familiar Buffalo names and places. Her reading is sponsored by the English Departments of Buffalo State and Erie Community College, as well as Buffalo State's School of Arts and Humanities, the Office of Equity and Campus Diversity, the Graduate School, and the Research Foundation.
