The following Equity and Campus Mini-Grants have been approved for funding:
Lucille Clifton, All Us Come Across the Water: Poems and Stories. Award-winning African American poet and author will hold an open poetry reading and meet with English students and faculty about including cultural diversity in the English curriculum. Submitted by Ralph Wahlstrom, English Department. $1,000.
One in Four Chapter Training: Men Teaching Men about Sexual Assault Prevention and Empathetic Response to Female Victims of Sexual Assault. Training for health educators, counselors and students to provide effective sexual assault prevention for college men. Submitted by Don Pembleton, Weigel Health Center, and Wendell Rivera, Counseling Center. $1,000.
Allegheny Drummers and Dancers will demonstrate of Native American Harvest Dances and cultural traditions at the Fall Festival. Submitted by the Native American Student Organization. $850.
Women in Science and Mathematics Speaker Series 2008–2009. A series of four lectures by nationally renowned female scientists. Submitted by Karen O'Quin, associate dean, School of Natural and Social Sciences. $2,000.
