Watercolor Journals: Diaries of Our Travels

Watercolor Journals: Diaries of Our Travels, a class and workshop with Sandy Ludwig and Carol Siracuse, will be held Saturday, June 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's studio classroom as part of the International Center for Watercolor.

Watercolorist Carol Case Siracuse and artist Sandy Ludwig will present their process of journaling and sketching, and demonstrate the methods they use to capture their subjects. Participants will then have the opportunity to create work in their own journals and sketchbooks, and if weather permits, the experience outside will enhance the practice of developing drawings for painting. Bring your favorite journal or sketchbook. Painting supplies will be provided or please feel free to bring your own.

Siracuse is a retired architect who has returned to the artmaking of her undergraduate years when she majored in fine arts, particularly printmaking and drawing. She paints in watercolors, draws and paints in pen and ink, and uses various water media. Her journals are her way of documenting her life page by page.

Ludwig is an artist who taught visual arts at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and likes to create artwork from drawings made in her sketchbook while traveling.

Cost: $26 for "not yet" members; $20 for Burchfield Penney members. Join online or call ext. 3547 for membership information.

To register for this class, contact Kathy Gaye Shiroki, ext. 3549, or visit the Burchfield Penney website to download the registration form.
