The level of food insecurity in Western New York has risen since early 2020. FeedMore WNY is looking for partners for its Adopt-a-Route program to deliver hot and cold meals (Meals on Wheels) to clients in need. We are gathering interest in “Adopting a Route” where Buffalo State College would help serve its community neighbors. The commitment (with eight volunteers) would require 60 to 90 minutes once a month during the noon hour to deliver hot and cold meals to residents near Buffalo State. Volunteers will work in pairs, and all safety measures will be followed by volunteers and clients. These include volunteers wearing masks, social distancing, and using hand sanitizer before and after each delivery. Also, meals are delivered to porches in a designated area, so volunteers do not enter anyone's home. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Carol DeNysschen, chair and professor of health, nutrition, and dietetics (who can provide you with a training video so you feel comfortable with the safety of the process), or Laura Hill Rao, director of civic and community engagement. Thank you for making a difference!
