Professional Development Workshop: 'When Helping Hurts…Secondary Traumatic Stress and Student Affairs' - March 12

Please join us for the professional development workshop “When Helping Hurts…Secondary Traumatic Stress and Student Affairs” on Thursday, March 12, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Chase Hall 109.

If supporting a student through trauma has left you with lasting negative feelings, thoughts, or behaviors, you may be suffering from secondary traumatic stress.

Please join Buffalo State College graduate student (Higher Education Administration) and Erie County Department of Social Services senior caseworker Shandra Hake to learn tools to recognize and address secondary traumatic stress and see how it relates to work in student affairs. Ms. Hake will share the definition and symptoms of secondary traumatic stress; discuss ways to protect yourself from and address secondary traumatic stress; and discuss how it is relevant to student affairs.

Light snacks will be provided. Please register through the Workshop Registration System.
