The American Red Cross will hold its next campus blood drive Tuesday, February 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. Presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt. Call (800) RED-CROSS or visit the Red Cross website to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Did you know that cancer patients use nearly one-quarter of the blood supply, more than patients fighting any other disease? And there simply aren’t enough people donating regularly to meet the need. Five units of blood are needed every minute of every day to help someone going through cancer treatments. Yet, only 3 percent of the American public donates blood in a given year. Blood transfusions are often essential to fighting cancer. For those undergoing chemotherapy treatments while battling cancer, a blood transfusion can give them the strength to keep fighting. One in three people in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer in his or her lifetime. Thank you for joining the American Red Cross to “Give Blood to Give Time” to someone in need.
