Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) is working to develop a restorative justice (RJ) program that can be made available for students when they are referred for allegedly violating certain policies outlined in the Code of Conduct. RJ programs are used at colleges and universities nationwide to resolve student conflict and incidents. Institutions such as Skidmore College, Brown University, University of Florida, Siena College, University of Kentucky, University of Texas-El Paso, University of Michigan, and Canisius College all have RJ programs.Â
Students are invited to participate in a Restorative Justice and General Programming Survey. The survey will be delivered to students' Buffalo State e-mail accounts. SCCS staff members will also set up information kiosks in the Campbell Student Union lobby on February 6, 13, 14, 20, 21, 26, and 28 for students to complete the survey. Please encourage students to visit the kiosks on any of the dates listed above, download the link from their student e-mail, or visit the SCCS website to complete the survey. The survey will be available until Friday, March 1.
Please visit the Student Conduct and Community Standards website for more information about the Restorative Justice Center, scheduled to open in fall 2019.
