Open Forum: SUNY Libraries Consortium Negotiations with Elsevier - April 30

If you are interested in learning more about the SUNY Libraries Consortium negotiations with Elsevier in advance of the current contract’s expiration in December, please attend a town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 30, during Bengal Pause (12:15–1:30 p.m.) in Bulger Communication Center 214.

These forums are being held to update campuses on the SUNY Libraries Consortium negotiations with Elsevier to maintain access to the ScienceDirect product and to solicit feedback from campuses on the value and impact of the Elsevier contract in our work. As many of you are probably aware, the University of California system could not reach agreement with the publisher, and similar situations have been playing out across the European Union. The current SUNY contract comes up for renewal in December.

The SUNY Libraries Consortium—in collaboration with the University Faculty Senate, the SUNY Provost’s Office, the Buffalo State College Senate, and Buffalo State’s Provost's Office—is offering this forum at Buffalo State, and we hope it will be well attended. If the Elsevier contract is important to the academic lives of you or your students, please ensure that a representative from your area attends the meeting so your insights can be shared with SUNY System Administration. Thank you for participating in this important discussion on April 30.
