Governor Cuomo launched a volunteer effort called “Labor for Your Neighbor” on Labor Day weekend to assist in local cleanup efforts in the areas where Hurricane Irene brought extensive damage. More than 2,000 volunteers signed up to work over the weekend to help those in flood-stricken areas clear their homes of the debris left behind by the storm. Sign up to be alerted if additional volunteer sites are set up in the coming days. At that time, you will receive further instructions regarding times, locations, and how to prepare. The National Guard and the State Office of Emergency Management will provide supervision and safe transportation to the sites.
