Kwibuka25: Commemorating the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda - April 28

The Anne Frank Project is partnering with Buffalo's Rwandan and East African communities to host “Kwibuka25: Remember. Unite. Rebuild” on Sunday, April 28, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 215. Kwibuka is an international commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, held at designated conferences and embassies around the world. The public is invited to attend.

The program includes the following:

  • Candle lighting and survivor testimony
  • Speakers from the Rwandan Embassy and local Rwandan community
  • Katherine Conway-Turner, president of Buffalo State College
  • Representative of the Honorable Byron Brown, mayor of Buffalo
  • Drew Kahn, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor and founding director of AFP
  • Buffalo State alumni and AFP Rwanda delegate reflections
