CANCELED: 'Politics and Current Situation of Indonesia' - March 13

Abdulkadir Jailani, consul general of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, will present "Politics and Current Situation of Indonesia" on Wednesday, March 13, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in Caudell Hall 127. This event is part of the eighth annual Southeast Asia Week celebration March 11–14 and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Mr. Jailani is an eminent and experienced diplomat who has served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia for more than 20 years. Mr. Jailani earned a master of European law and policy from Portsmouth University, UK, and attended the doctor of law program at the University of Indonesia from 2002 until 2005. Mr. Jailani’s role includes supporting Indonesia’s strategic foreign and domestic policy interests. He has served as a lead negotiator in the establishment of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Framework Instrument on Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers and as vice chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee of WIPO on Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge, and Folklore (2014). Mr. Jailani is an avid reader of philosophy and politics and an enthusiastic black-and-white photographer. His life philosophy is “Nothing has any foundation; things should be approached from a particular perspective and particular end.”
