Call for Papers: Networking in Higher Education Conference

The Buffalo State College Association of Faculty and Staff of African Descent (AFSAD), in collaboration with the University at Buffalo Minority Faculty and Staff Association (MFSA), will host the fifth biennial Networking in Higher Education Conference, "Building Bridges for a Better Tomorrow,” Friday, June 3, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Buffalo Amherst. The theme for this year’s conference is “Core Competencies for Success: Tapping Our Potential.”

Today’s economy and its impact on higher education create the opportunity for professionals to share and explore strategies and/or “best practices” that aid in “doing more with less.” The ability to “stay the course;” maintain excellence in service; and achieve desired goals and outcomes in these uncertain times can be challenging and at times overwhelming.

Selected topics include: motivating millennial students; the "publish or perish" dilemma; pre-K–graduate school partnerships; assessment and evaluation; and faculty/staff as facilitators of student success. The proposal deadline has been extended to Friday, March 18. If interested, contact Ottilie Woodruff at ext. 6021.
