The Art Conservation Department will open its doors in Rockwell Hall today, November 16, for its annual Fall Open House from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. This event provides a rare opportunity to view works of art undergoing conservation treatment and to learn more about our graduate program. The public is invited to observe the materials, techniques, and equipment used to examine, restore, and preserve works of art and artifacts of various cultures. Objects in different stages of conservation treatment are displayed. Faculty members and students explain and demonstrate aspects of conservation principles and practices and answer questions about the department's graduate program and the work of conservators.
