Roy Cook, associate professor of philosophy at the University of Minnesota, will present "She-Hulk and the City" on Wednesday, March 20, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center South as the Buffalo State Philosophy and Humanities Department's Year of the City public lecture.
John Byrne's early 1990s run on The Sensational She-Hulk includes many subtle interactions between the fictional world that the She-Hulk inhabits and the actual city within which these comics were produced. Cook will explore the very real and very intentional overlap between the two, and discuss how it complicates and enriches our understanding of fiction within serialized narrative art.
Sponsored by the Philosophy and Humanities Department, the School of Natural and Social Sciences, and the Ethics Bowl Club. For more information, please contact Julian Cole, assistant professor of philosophy and humanities.
