As part of Buffalo State's ongoing effort to address critical maintenance needs, facades on Bacon, Ketchum, and Rockwell halls and the Donald Savage Building will be restored beginning this summer. Improvements will include brick masonry, stone restoration, and door and window replacement. Work is scheduled to begin on Bacon and Ketchum halls this week and continue for the summer. Additional Daily Bulletin notices will advise the campus community when work will proceed to other buildings.
As part of the project, asbestos-containing caulk will be removed and abated from window lintels. Work will be conducted by a contractor and monitored by an independent consultant to ensure that abatement operations are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Window lintels and caulk will be removed and replaced from the exterior, after windows and room air conditioners have been enclosed in plastic from the interior. The plastic will remain on each window for approximately one day. Occupants of Bacon and Ketchum halls are asked to move objects away from windows and clear off window sills in preparation. Building occupants and visitors should expect minor disruptions from noise, vibration, and dust.
