Tell Students: Summer Service-Learning Opportunity in Puerto Rico

Governor Cuomo and SUNY have collaborated to provide support for up to 250 students to participate in the New York Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Initiative, an exciting low-cost service-learning opportunity for SUNY students beginning in June. Students will participate in reconstruction efforts in Puerto Rico following hurricanes Irma and Maria. Details and applications have just been released for two-week opportunities, which run mid-June through late August. Program participants are eligible for 3 credits and a stipend. Room and board as well as round-trip travel costs will be covered from one of the New York City–area airports. Selection and placement of applicants in appropriate programs will be conducted by SUNY’s Office of Global Affairs. Applicants will be chosen based on their availability, special skills, commitment, and motivation demonstrated in their essay. Applications are due by Thursday, May 17. The first round of placements will be announced on May 23. Please encourage students to apply for this important opportunity.
