Critical thinking is something we all want from our students, but what is it, exactly? How does it change from field to field, and what role might it play in the general education classroom—or in any classroom, for that matter? How will Buffalo State infuse critical thinking into the curriculum? This workshop will ask participants to explore these questions in the context of their own teaching, with the goals of constructing assignments that will assess the extent to which students have acquired this skill and developing pedagogical techniques that will help students achieve these ends. Faculty members should show up with a particular course in mind so that they can end the workshop with assignments and pedagogies that will aid their particular students in the development of this most important skill. This workshop will take place on Thursday, May 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as the showcase event of the Pedagogical Institute. Lunch will be provided. Participants will be contacted to confirm the location before the workshop.
